End of year project.

The following project will count as your final exam!

“Decades Project” – APUSH
· Students will decide if they want to work in a group (suggest 4-5) or as individuals
· Students will pick 1 of the post-WWII decades
· All projects must cover 4 out of 5 of the following broad topics:
o POLITICS (which could include some of the following ideas)
§ Political groups (Platforms / Issues / Supporters)
§ Presidential / Congressional / Supreme Court issues
§ Civil Rights / Women’s Rights
o FOREIGN POLICY (which could include some of the following ideas)
§ War / Terrorism / Peace / Diplomacy
o DOMESTIC POLICY (which could include some of the following ideas)
§ Immigration
· Where people are coming from & where they are going; reasons for immigration
§ Social Programs
· Gap between rich and poor
· Programs for poor & backlash against those programs
o ECONOMY (which could include some of the following ideas)
§ Trade / Embargoes / Deficit / Debt
o TECHNOLOGY (which could include some of the following ideas)
§ New technology / Improved technology
Projects must also include at least 1 of the following cultural topics (may have more).
Entertainment / Music; Clothing Style; Religion; Scandals
Your goal is to provide information about your decade that fits into the above categories. You must also analyze your information and place it in an historical context.
Analysis: Why is this information important – what does it mean?
Historical Context: How does your information fit into the big picture (i.e. part of the Cold War)?
**You should notice that Analysis and Historical Context go hand-in-hand**
Presentations may be a PowerPoint, Documentary, Backboard or other ( approval needed). You are invited to include music, video or “dress up” as part of your presentation.
Presentations MUST be accompanied by a Works Cited page. All written information must be in MLA format.
Sources should include Primary as well as Secondary sources.
Projects will be presented in class June 1, 2, 3, or 4. Presentation dates will be assigned. If you miss your date you risk failing this project.
You will receive a daily class grade – based on the work you and your group are producing each day. Bring your textbook to class each day, bring any library materials you have to class every day. Do not expect to get hall passes to the library!!

Students may also pick 5 songs from a post world war 2 decade and then analyze them to explain the political, cultural, economic changes in America. This option will require the same formats as the first option.
